Dr Thorley  provides a service to solicitors and the Court as an expert witness for children and  adolescents. He has particular expertise in the assessment of psychological and brain injuries in young people  under the age of 18 years arising from:-

  • Road traffic accidents
  • Assault and attacks
  • Bullying
  • Bereavement
  • Sexual, physical and emotional abuse
  • Medical negligence
  • Educational negligence
  • Food poisoning
  • Chemical and gas poisoning

These events frequently give rise to  mental health  problems and disorders including post-traumatic stress, phobias,  adjustment disorders, depression and anxiety states. Brain injuries  may result in result in a wide range of cognitive impairments with even the most minor ones being associated with memory and concentration difficulties.

Dr Thorley also provides therapy services for young people affected by personal injury. He is highly experienced  in Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT), Eye Movement  Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) and Hypnosis/Guided Imagery.
